Something to Bark About

Add ImageJENNIE: My names Jennie, and I'm a chocoholic.

GROUP: Welcome, Jennie!

JENNIE: Thanks for letting me share my story. I always hear peeps say diamonds are a girl's best friends, but I ain't so sure of that. Be honest, I'd take a nice slither of dark chocolate over a block of carbon any day.

GROUP: How long you've been sober, Jennie?

JENNIE: Four months...until yesterday. I ran into the local Gelson's and there before me was a sight to be seen. Imagine, pieces of dark chocolate lightly flavored with peppermint, topped with a layer of white chocolate, and sprinkled with peppermint candy cane.

GROUP: You're talking about Simply Put Gourmet's Dark and White Chocolate Peppermint Bark, aren't you?

JENNIE: You got that right. And now I'm just hooked.

Open Your Heart This Valentine's Day with P.A.M.'s Run: Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Mobilization

Valentine's Day typically distinguishes the Haves from the Have-Nots. For couples, it's a time when you had better make a romantic gesture or suffer dire consequences. For a single girl like me, it's a time when you can't help but be reminded that finding Mr. Right can prove as much a challenge as finding Waldo might be for  a pre-schooler.

Fortunately, this February 14th can be less about romantic love (or lack there of) and excessive consumerism and more about making the ultimate gesture of love. My dear friend Jessica Bardwil and her family serve as a perfect example: this year, they are joining forces with Road2ACure to raise awareness and funds for pancreatic cancer research and to commemorate the year since Pam Bardwil lost her 19 month battle with the disease. Pam's daughters, who are at the helm of the event explain, "We want this day to embody everything our mom stood for: family, fun, community, and of course, the desire to make a difference."

The certified 5k and 10k races are chip timed and will take place Saturday, February 14th in Westlake Village, CA. For more information about the event or how you can sponsor a runner check out P.A.M.'s Run!

Miss Lilith's Colorful Canvas

Lilith's approach to creating art has always been slightly unconventional. She often utilizes multiple mediums that others might view as rubbish, including eggshells, pieces of fabric, and metal scraps.  Drawing on Impressionism, her latest acrylic mural of ancient Jerusalem, "The Old Market," combines vibrant colors on velvet fabric, creating exceptional depth and unique texture.
